Conversion
In the world of digital marketing and online selling, a conversion is when a prospective customer lands on your website or online advertisement or reads your email, and then takes a desired action. Typically, this desired action is one of the following outcomes:
- Signing up to your email list
- Visiting a web page
- Viewing a marketing video
- Downloading your guide, ebook, or digital product
- Making a purchase
- Signing up for a free trial
How to Track Conversions
To track your conversions, marketers look at a metric called a “conversion rate” which denotes the percentage of people that actually complete your desired action.
Needless to say, online sellers are always striving to achieve the highest possible conversion rate. However, it’s worth noting that the average proportion of conversions will vary depending on the niche you’re working in and your chosen business model.
